Hauz Khas Village

Hauz Khas Village traces its origins to the 13th century during the Delhi Sultanate. The area developed around a large water reservoir, known as Hauz Khas, which was built by Sultan Alauddin Khalji to supply water to the city of Siri. Later, Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq restored the reservoir and added several monuments, transforming the area into an important center of learning and culture.

The Creation of Hauz Khas
In the late 13th century, Sultan Alauddin Khalji built the reservoir to provide a reliable water supply for the nearby city of Siri, one of Delhi’s historic capitals.

Restoration by Firoz Shah Tughlaq
When the reservoir began to dry up, Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq restored it and constructed a madrasa, mosque, and his own tomb, making the area an important educational and religious center.
