A recent graduate from Nalanda University, Rajgir, Bihar, in MA Archaeology, with research specialising in the Iron Age, Early Historic period, maritime archaeology, landscape archaeology, and heritage documentation, with notable project work carried out on the Iron Age–Early Historic megalithic burials in Palakkad, Kerala. Practical industry experience has been gained as a Research Intern with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in New Delhi, along with specialised theoretical certification in Underwater Archaeology from ASI’s Underwater Archaeology Wing. A commitment is held towards combining fieldwork, historical research, and interdisciplinary approaches for the study and preservation of cultural heritage.

The article examines megalithic burial practices in Palakkad, Kerala, during the Iron Age and Early Historic period. It explores the cultural meanings, beliefs about life after death, burial architecture, and material remains associated with these monuments. By studying selected sites, the paper analyses how topography influenced material culture and burial practices, while also highlighting the challenges of preserving megalithic monuments and their similarities and variations across different periods.
